Creating pre-Heresy marines: Part 5c – Mark II power armour

This is the third and final part of the tutorial for creating Mark II power armour. The previous parts can be found at:

Part A
Part B

To complete the armour the shoulder pads need to be converted and some optional tweaks to the armour.

For the shoulder pads, cut off the trim from around the edge. If you used a resin Red Scorpion pad you will discover, as I did, that the inside is hollowed out:

Creating pre-Heresy marines: Part 5b – Mark II power armour

This is the second part of the tutorial for creating Mark II power armour. The first part can be found here.

A Mark II helmet is readily available from the Maxmini Steam Knight set, but I feel this could still use a little customisation to fit with the base model I've used as a guide.

Dark Angels painting tutorial

I noticed in the painting poll that Dark Angels got quite a few votes and having recently started an army I thought I'd put a little tutorial together.  Much as Whitehorn/Rusty Dice did with the Space Wolves, this is a 'ready for tabletop' standard painting guide, but I think they look quite good and am pleased with the overall effect that my army is starting to take on in squads.  If you are looking for display standard painting tips, I'm afraid you'll need to wait for Kidjal to do a tutorial ;)

Creating pre-Heresy marines: Part 5 – Mark II power armour

Continuing the guides for producing pre-Heresy armour, next in line we have Mark II: Crusade.

The Crusade armour was the first fully sealed Power Armour used by the Astartes as the Emperor began expanding his control beyond Terra.

Here is one of Games Workshop's classic Mark II Space Marines. The backpack has been removed to show the detail on the pads and legs, the model painted as a Dusk Raider by Whitehorn.

What new devilry is this? – Spawning the Hellpit Abomination

Foremost among the new toys available for the hordes of Skaven this year was the Hellpit Abomination.

Created by Clan Moulders most talented things catcher, Throt the Unclean, the Abomination is described as "A living mountain of misshapen flesh".
Throt captured a blind wyrm whilst travelling throughout the Chaos wastes, and sutured Rat Ogre parts to create this monstrosity.
