Building a Storm Raven – part 1
With the addition of the 'Storm Hawk' to the Age of the Emperor pack, my Mechanicum force is able to field a very handy skimmer transport. More importantly, I have an excuse to build one of those Storm Ravens everyone is having a crack at!
The kit is almost wholly made from a Valkyrie. I used a few leftover bits from a Chimera for the cockpit.
40k preview – Eldar Night Spinner and Fire Prism
Two White Dwarf previews have snook onto the Internet, showing us the new kits for the Eldar Night Spinner and a rather well endowed Fire Prism.
My thoughts?
The Night Spinner looks great, I'm glad to finally see this old vehicle make it to 40k form.
The Fire Prism looks top heavy and I can imagine a lot of initial reactions from people will be to drop the lance part. Particularly if you happen to have existing metal prisms in your collection. The labce would make a handy objective instead!
Mantic hints at more to come – Dwarves!
Just a quick note for Mantic and fantasy fans out there.
Recieving a news letter today, I was presented with the interesting image below:

Designer notes #1: Codex Crusades
Codex: Crusades
As a life long fan of 40k, Thousand Sons and more recently, the pre-Heresy era (aka 30k), the coming of a full-on book, looking into the rich background of the Thousand Sons (in the self-titled novel by McNeill) is a very welcomed gift.

The book has been hugely influential on us - I've seen dozens of people start up their pre-heresy TS armies recently. It's also pushed me into starting something I have wanted to do for a long time now - my own interpretation of the Great Crusade, in a playable format. This project, as hinted by the image to the left, is spearheaded by the Thousand Sons. What better way to launch!
Writing your own rules for your favourite game is a very appealing project, but the reality soon hits you - this is hard work! To ease the development, offer you some insight and hopefully avoid some potential mistakes, I'm starting a series of articles explaining how I've gone about developing this project.
Top five 40k armies I’d like to build
I am always looking 5 years ahead with new projects and fooling myself about the realistic time-scale attached. Even before I've fully planned and built current projects new ideas encroach upon my thoughts.
My inspirations are generally hobby-lead, seeking to make that extra-flavoured army, rather than the next tournament beater. I always strive to challenge myself with greater feats of customising models and sculpting.
Here's my top ten army projects:
