Wayback Wednesday: October = Iron Hands?
Looking back through my posts on and around the first week of October I noticed that they’re the time I seem to pick up my Iron Hands army. I am not the kind of person who works solidly on a project until completion, as I tend to work on a few at a time, leap-frogging new, old and recycled projects.
In 2011 I started cutting up my Space Hulk Terminators to convert to Iron Hands. Amusingly, they were already yellow. That’s the recycling of my brief idea to paint them up as Lamenters, so that all the lovely Blood Angels details could be used, rather than obliterated to make way for iron. One of them was green, another project – boarding Salamanders, that quickly lost footing after one model.
In 2010 I had not long started my Iron Hands project. I am pretty proud of the fact that I’ve stuck to one legion for 3 years now. Although that’s largely due to being distracted by non-Horus Heresy things.
Here’s the first prototype, still my favourite. See the Iron Hands.

So, it is not too surprising that I have been working on my Iron Hands again!
Here’s the start of a Mortis Contemptor.
Looking good man! I’m up to my ears in heresy-era Iron Hands, definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with yours!
