A model a day – day 16 – reload!

A model a day; day 16 - reload! This weekend has been very busy, so I've missed out on full model posts, but am instead posting a few work in progress shots of models for my Dark Mechanicum force.

A brand new Chimera is nearly done. The basic construction is the same as the previous conversion, but with some extras including spiked plates, pipes, shields and a servitor pilot. This will also be given a dozer blade.

A model a day – day 15: Tech adept Pontius

A model a day; day 15 - Tech adept Pontius.

This model was very much a spur of the moment idea. No prior planning was involved. I got the model from Ramshackle this week, marvelled at how much it could fit into Ad-mech armies and... put my brush where my mouth was.

I wanted to make some changes to the model to make it fit in with the usual IP trap and flow with the look of my army. A few minor changes really changed the whole feel of the model in the end, so I am quite pleased with the result.

I will most likely attempt something similar with the other Ramshackle models shown here.

A model a day – day 14 – Robotic Bloodletters

A model a day; day 14 - Robotic Bloodletters. The concept behind these models was inspired by Soulgrinders. Daemons that serve the Forge of Souls with aspirations to gain physical construct bodies in the mortal realm. Inhabiting such bodies helps maintain them outside the warp almost indefinitely, making the daemons a greater force in battle. For the Dark mechanicum this is a useful bargaining tool, offering technology for the service of daemons.

A model a day – day 13 – Menials and Hypaspist

A model a day; day 13 - Menials and Hypaspist. A little bolstering of numbers today, bringing both a Hypaspist unit and the Menials up to 3 models each. I figured the more I get painted at a time, the quicker these core troop units will be out the way for more unique projects.

A quick guide the the painting process - I've covered both types of model individually before so this is nothing new today!

A model a day – Siege of Terra targets – Invasion list

The project has been quite successful so far. At first it felt like hard work to do one model a day. Sure, a single model can be done in a couple of hours, but the struggle is finding the time every day for it. If I was cunning, I could paint a few one day and save the posts for busier days, but that breaks my momentum and looking back I've found it fun doing at least some painting every day.
